FAMILY AFTER SCHOOL PICNIC: Sept 28, 2006, Braga Park.

Positively Newport Schools would like to thank everyone who helped make our Family After-School Picnic at Braga Park on September 28 such a success. It was wonderful to see so many parents, students, policymakers, school administrators and residents turn out for our kick-off event. Special thanks needs to go to all of our speakers. The topics they touched on have become starting points for our continued discussions throughout town. We would also like to thank Hallman Septic, Blue Rocks Catering, Cliff Christian, and Newport Biodiesel for the services they provided. Thank you also to our talented student musicians. You were a source of pride for all of us as parents! We would also like to thank the Newport Daily News for excellent coverage of our event and organization. We appreciate the time you took to help us spread the word citywide about our new group. Thank you also to all the candidates who attended. Many of them have since responded to our questionnaire and we invite everyone to take a look at some of the questions and answers at our newly launched website - www.positivelynewportschools.org. We will announce endorsements for the November elections on our website very soon. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with candidates and their views on the public schools in our city. Many of them welcome your questions and concerns.

Public education is a topic we all need to be talking about and thinking about as members of our community. We invite you to join the discussion and information-sharing with us. Please contact us to hear more about our future plans as well as share any new ideas you might have. Thank you again for the continued support.

Sincerely,
Positively Newport Schools
