If you did not make it to the PTO meeting held on 3/5, here is what was discussed:

The main focus of the PTO meeting on Monday was the Silent Auction, which will be held at Ochre Court on Friday, March 16. Our goal is to sell 120 tickets or more. We also discussed new donations that had been made, for example, a Greenvale Winery gift certificate, a brunch at Castle Hill gift certificate, a Sardella's gift certificate, and a few more. We are very excited about this event, and it should be lots of fun.

We also, discussed the joint meeting of the Newport school committee and the Newport city council, which will meet on Wednesday, March 7 at city hall. The school budget will be the focus of this meeting, so we hope to have a few parents attend this meeting.

Next we discussed Dr. Schoemaker's (school committee member), editorial which appeared in the Newport Daily News last week. He wrote about the new elementary schools project and the roadblock the city is facing with the new proposed legislature. Also mentioned in this article was the possibility of the 5th graders from all the Newport elementary schools moving to Thompson
Middle School.
